Empowering founders.

In the midst of the pandemic in 2020, I joined forces with a friend and built Iris: a personal relationships manager to keep track of professional relationships. With Iris, we hoped founders would never miss out on important follow-ups and go into every conversation feeling more prepared and confident than ever before.

It's personal.

as a founder, you meet so many interesting people. frustrated by how easy it is to loose track of these new relationships, we decided to build our own solution

New relationship. No problem.

we reimagined the contact book, packing in 5 key features

  1. The holy trifecta of the personal CRM: "follow-ups" (one-time push notifications to reach out), "moments" (jot down notes after a conversation), and "resurface" (recurring reminders).
  2. Daily feed: a deep learning recommendation system identified the top 5 people to reach out to each day with contextual conversation starters or indicators on how to help break the ice.
  3. Quick add: used NLP to intelligently convert unstructured notes into new follow ups, moments, or contacts. We were able to create a pretty quick data entry method that topped any other personal CRM on the market.
  4. Contact view: a timeline containing everything about a given contact: follow ups, moments, relevant news, updates from socials, birthdays, etc.
  5. Messages: a universal messaging aggregator. One inbox for all your messages. Think texts.com meets Superhuman — all to supercharge features 1 to 4 (we tried to build out this product offering, but fell victim to the high level of technical experience required... check out our friends at texts).

Where did Iris go?

Before moving on, Iris accrued ~20 paying customers. We tested pricing between $10/mo to $30/mo. In December of 2020, we decided to pivot away from Iris based on user feedback.
