A better crowdfunding experience.

Seed’s overarching mission was to build delightful products that made doing the “right” thing faster, easier, and more transparent than ever before. Campaigns hosted on Seed raised $200k+ total.

Giving needs a refresh.

our team identified the 3 major pitfalls of modern donation platforms

  1. Giving is passive: donors must wait for Twitter/Instagram's algorithms to send them a donation post.
  2. Giving is tedious: cross-platform friction to get to payment is high enough to discourage donations.
  3. Giving is open-loop: many feel their money goes into the nether, with no knowledge that it was put to good use.

Donate to win.

donate to earn raffle tickets for a chance to win awards & experiences

To properly align incentives, we had to give donors one final push and turn the act of donating into a pleasurable experience with the promise of a reward. Add on the following nifty features, Seed became a product that made donating more of a habit.

  1. Apple Pay: fast & seamless payments.
  2. Curation: quick access to causes users care about.
  3. Aggregation: access to the largest selection of live campaigns, all scraped from existing platforms.
  4. Social media integration: easily share campaigns to your instagram story with pre-generated story tiles.

More than a campaign.

we wanted to show that every campaign is more than a request for help

Our users.

we were able to attract an incredible host of users 3 ways

  1. Twitter: an incredible community of tech-forward people looking to donate if the user experience is frictionless.
  2. Instagram: strong social activism communities with thousands of followers, several of which we had direct connections with.
  3. Referral program: every referral awarded 10 raffle tickets.

Where did Seed go?

I ended up making the difficult decision to return to school after taking a year of absence. My growing interest in the biotech and healthcare space meant returning to Harvard to continue pursuing my degree. For the next few months, my cofounder continued to work on Seed and delved deep into web3. Seed Labs is now an “incubator” currently building Harvard DAO.
